How is reading time calculated?
Reading time assumes about 230 words per minute, the average for adult silent reading. Speaking time uses 130 words per minute. Both are estimates and will vary by reader.
Does it count characters with spaces?
Yes. You get both characters including spaces and characters excluding spaces, which is useful for meta tags and platforms with strict character limits.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The counter runs entirely in your browser. Your draft is saved in this browser's local storage so a refresh doesn't lose it, and Clear removes it. Nothing is sent to a server.
What length should my content be?
There is no universal best length. Match the search intent: a definition can be 300 words, a thorough guide 1,500 or more. Use the counter to hit the length your competitors are ranking with.
