FAQ

URL Encoder / Decoder questions.

What is URL encoding?

Also called percent-encoding, it replaces characters that are unsafe in URLs, like spaces and ampersands, with a percent sign and hex code. A space becomes %20. It keeps URLs valid and unambiguous.

When should I encode a URL?

Whenever a URL contains spaces, non-English letters or reserved characters like ?, & and = inside a value. Query parameters with user input almost always need encoding to avoid breaking the link.

What is the difference between full URL and component mode?

Full-URL mode preserves the structural characters like :// and ? so the link still works. Component mode encodes everything, which is what you want for a single query value that may contain those characters.

Is my input uploaded?

No. Encoding and decoding run entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste is sent anywhere.
