How it works

Three steps, no signup.

1

Paste or upload

Paste HTML from a page, a CMS or an email, or upload an .html file.

2

Pick your options

Keep or drop images and links, and collapse extra blank lines. Headings use # and code blocks use fences.

3

Copy the Markdown

Copy the result or download it as a .md file for docs, a README or an LLM prompt.

FAQ

HTML to Markdown questions.

Is my HTML uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser with JavaScript. The HTML never reaches a server.

Does it support tables?

Yes. HTML tables become GitHub-flavored Markdown tables. Very complex tables with merged cells have no Markdown equivalent, so those are simplified.

Why convert HTML to Markdown for LLMs?

Markdown keeps the structure (headings, lists, tables) while using far fewer tokens than HTML. Clean Markdown is easier for models to read and cheaper to send.

What happens to scripts and styles?

They are removed along with comments, forms and other non-content elements, so only the readable content is converted.
