What is schema markup?
Structured data is a standard vocabulary, schema.org, that describes your page to search engines: that this is a product, with this price and rating. It can unlock rich results like stars, prices and FAQs in search.
Should I use JSON-LD or microdata?
JSON-LD. Google recommends it because it sits in a single script block separate from your HTML, which is easier to add, maintain and validate. This tool outputs JSON-LD.
Does schema improve rankings?
Not directly, but rich results take up more space and earn more clicks, which lifts traffic. Some result types, like FAQ and review snippets, are only available with the right markup.
How do I test my markup?
Paste the output into Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator. Both confirm the syntax is valid and show which rich results your page is eligible for.
